He was the great American colonizer of the west and prophet of God. He married Allen and Amanda Stout and called them on a mission to settle Southern Utah. Amanda and Allen gave great sacrifice to fulfill the call of a "Cotton mission" to St. George. The Griffeths and Carsons also responded to the call to settle Cache Valley. The Cox family also went to St. George on a Cotton mission. Our pioneer ancestors followed him and honored him as their prophet and leader.
