Jasher's history of Enoch is that he secreted himself for years to learn of God. Then he is commanded to return to teach people. He is asked to be king in the year Methuselah is born, and he reigns 243 years until Adam dies. Then Methuselah succeeds him and Enoch retires to seclusion until translated.
